Information on Employment in the Slovak Republic

Foreigners who are employed in accordance with the existing legal regulatins in the Slovak Republic have the same legal status as a Slovak citizens. Thay may be employed provided that have been granted a residence permit for the Slovak territory and an employment permit

Both of the permits are issued in Slovakia. The residence permits are issuedby an approppriate local Foreign Police Office. The employment permits are issued by an require for employment of a foreigner who has married a Slovak citizen.

Unless it is possible to recruit a Slovak citizen, especially when he applies for a particular job, the employer may on the basis of the permit issued by a Labour Office offer this job to a foreign employee.
