Joe left Hearst in 1941 to join his father , stepmother ,stepbrother Steve and half sister Anne, who had moved to Timmins. The war came and he enlisted in 1942 . He went into the Tank core and became a Tank Instructor and received further training in Diesel Mechanics at the London Trade School. Asked how he did he said this would sound like boasting but of the twenty exams that he wrote eighteen were a perfect 100 % , In the other two he got an 87 % in one and 92 % in the other. I liked to learn he said.... He served in the Armed Forces from 1942 to 1946. Joe
