pages on shopping

The joy of shopping in a foreign country is that much more exciting because one never knows what the next shop will have.  There has recently been a proliferation of privately owned stores.  After years of State owned stores, it is very refreshing to walk into eclectic shops full of unusual and unique items that can be the answer to bringing back that special gift for someone back home.  You may want to bring back from Slovakia the beautiful Modra "ceramics" or visit one of the many ULUV stores to purchase Slovak embroidery, crafts or other folklore items. Indeed, you may only need to visit a local store to purchase an item you left at home. The vocabulary required to be able to converse with the shop owners found in the following pages should be sufficient to allow you to make yourself understood.  Happy shopping!
